Employers now days are more and more looking to run credit profiles on perspective new hires. This practice could mean getting that new job or the embarrassment of being turned down for a job you are qualified for. When the economy struggles, it is more important than ever to have good credit and to give you the best opportunities possible of landing that really great new job.

The law does require that the applicant grant permission before accessing their credit file. Think about this, “Who believes they are in a position to say, No you cannot run my credit” to their potential new boss?

Looking on the bright side an employer’s credit check does not include a credit score. Just be prepared to respond if there are any questionable items that your new employer may ask about. Prepare ahead of time by obtaining a free credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com and review it carefully.
